Global Warming

We have talked quite a bit about Global Warming in class. After looking at all the evidence on the issue, what are your thoughts? Does Global Warming actual take place? Is it just a cycle of nature? Do humans have any responsibility for Global Warming? Should we be accountable for the issue and do something about it? Be sure to cite a source to justify your position.

Air Pollution

The town of Grafton still has much open space and little industry. Should we be concerned with air pollution in other parts of the state, country or world? Should we concern ourselves with laws or lack of laws restricting air pollution in these areas? Do not forget to use sources to support your argument, I have included some at the bottom of the page.

You have conducted a Water Use Analysis Survey in class. Discuss some measures you can take to help conserve water in your community. Be sure to share the impact of these measures on your daily routine.

Water Resources

Currently we are discussing water resources in class, water is all around us yet the water suitable for human use is limited. In this blog you will need to find how the united states utilizes water (outside the home) and discuss some of the conservation measures taken to assure that we do not deplete our water supply.

Succession

You are currently studying the change in ecosystems, succession. Examples of succession are all around us; fields turning to wood areas, ponds filling in, forest fires and even volcanic eruptions. A global issue is desertification. Check the resources and let me know what you think, is desertification a natural part of succession or is it simply a result of depleting resources and misuse of our lands?

Sustainable Development

We have been discussing sustainable developments in class, the balancing of human needs with their impact on our environment. I have provided you with a source below, check it out. After you have investigated the website pick one of two options:
1. Choose one of the many issues presented and let us know if you think we could implement sustainable practices to remedy the problem.
2. Choose one of the "remedies" and let us know if it has had any actual impact on the environment issues it intended to solve.

Throughout the summer all of you have had wonderful experiences; gone on vacation, been to the movies, or hung-out with friends. Try to relate one experience you had over the summer to the study of Environmental Science.
